The Challenge
The client's on-premise infrastructure was reaching end-of-life, with 4-hour maintenance windows every month and a DR plan that had never been tested. A HIPAA audit was also 6 months away.
Our Solution
We designed a multi-region AWS architecture with automated failover, implemented infrastructure-as-code with Terraform, containerised all workloads with Kubernetes, and built a full CI/CD pipeline — all while keeping the production system live.
How We Did It
- Parallel environment strategy — new AWS infra built alongside existing systems
- Terraform modules for all infrastructure: VPC, EKS, RDS, ElastiCache
- Blue/green deployment for every service with automated rollback triggers
- HIPAA controls: encryption at rest/transit, audit logging, VPC isolation
- GitHub Actions pipeline with automated security scanning (Trivy, Checkov)
