E-commerce Platform Rebuild
Re-architected a monolithic e-commerce system into a scalable microservices platform, cutting page load from 8s to under 1.3s and tripling conversion rate.
The Challenge
The client's legacy PHP monolith was collapsing under Black Friday traffic, causing 30-minute outages and a 60% cart abandonment rate. The codebase had zero test coverage and hadn't been refactored in 7 years.
Our Solution
We decomposed the monolith into 8 domain-driven microservices, introduced a Next.js storefront with ISR for sub-second page loads, and rebuilt the checkout flow with resilience patterns (circuit breakers, retries, fallbacks).
How We Did It
- Full technical audit and strangler-fig migration plan in week 1
- Domain-driven service decomposition (cart, inventory, payments, search, etc.)
- Next.js storefront with ISR — pages served in under 200ms globally
- PostgreSQL with read replicas + Redis caching for catalogue queries
- Automated load testing in CI pipeline before every production release
