Mobile Banking Super-App
Designed and built a full-featured mobile banking app for a regional bank — account management, payments, loans, and AI-powered spend insights — from zero to 120,000 active users in 6 months.
The Challenge
The client needed a modern mobile banking experience to compete with neo-banks, but had no existing digital product team, no design system, and a core banking system with no public API.
Our Solution
We built the complete stack: a React Native app, a BFF (Backend for Frontend) API layer, a core banking integration adapter, and a real-time notification engine. We also trained the client's internal team to own the product post-launch.
How We Did It
- 3-week discovery sprint: user research, competitor analysis, feature prioritisation
- Design system built in Figma before a single line of code was written
- React Native with a shared component library across iOS and Android
- Core banking adapter with caching to maintain performance despite legacy API latency
- In-app AI spend categorisation using a fine-tuned classification model
